Rick Owens DRKSHDW Ramones
$275.00
The Rick Owens DRKSHDW Ramones arrives in black canvas with a raw, frayed appliqué worked across the toe box threads left exposed and unraveling on purpose, like the fabric got caught on something and nobody bothered fixing it. Against the cream cap toe and jagged crepe-style sole, the effect reads part workwear, part something dredged up and worn in for years. It’s one of the more textural takes on the Ramones shape, and the contrast between the rough canvas and the clean white sole does a lot of the work.

Design & Details
The fraying isn’t printed or faux-distressed it’s raw canvas edges left to do what raw canvas edges do, which means every pair will wear and fuzz slightly differently over time. The heel tab curves up sharply, a Rick Owens DRKSHDW signature, and the tongue is left unpadded and loose by design rather than oversight.
Material & Workmanship
DRKSHDW’s canvas has always sat rougher than the mainline’s leather and suede offerings, and this pair leans into that the appliqué is stitched on top rather than woven in, so the fraying happens at the seams first. The sole unit’s serrated edge is molded, not applied, which keeps it from peeling the way a glued sole eventually does.
This one pairs easiest with things that already have some wear built in washed denim, a beat-up field jacket, anything that isn’t trying too hard to be clean. It’s not a shoe that wants to be the neat detail in an outfit.
Care
- Spot clean with a dry brush; avoid soaking the canvas
- Let fraying develop naturally don’t trim loose threads
- Wipe the rubber sole with a damp cloth to keep the white cap toe fresh
- Air dry away from direct heat
- Store flat to keep the sole’s tooth edge from warping
