Rick Owens Fur Boots don’t hide anything mechanical under the hair a set of raw fabric laces crosses over the shaft in a rough X pattern, sitting right on top of long black fur that spills over the sole at the front. It’s less a boot and more a shape wrapped in fur, held together by those straps.
Specs
- Full shag fur upper, ankle to mid-calf height
- Crossed fabric lace wrap in olive-grey, tied at the side
- Rounded, oversized silhouette with no visible seaming
- Fur extends past the toe, covering part of the sole
- Flat sole hidden entirely beneath the fur
The whole design leans into excess rather than fighting it the fur isn’t trimmed back or shaped, it’s left long and loose, and the laces don’t really “close” the boot so much as sit on top of it for visual tension. That’s the point of it.
Craftsmanship
The fur is dense and long enough that the boot holds its rounded shape on its own, without any structured lining underneath. Laces are flat woven fabric, wrapped by hand rather than threaded through eyelets, so no two pairs cross exactly the same way.
Wear these with something plain below the ankle anything else fights with how much is already going on. A slim pant or bare leg works better than layering more texture on top.
Maintenance
- Never wash spot clean only
- Brush fur gently in one direction to keep it from matting
- Keep away from water and damp storage
- Store loosely, not compressed under other shoes
- Air out after wear rather than sealing in a shoe box
