Rick Owens Drop Crotch Shorts
Extreme drop crotch here, the seat hangs way down, almost hits knee level before the legs even start to separate. Plain black, nothing on it really, no pockets, no hardware, just the drawstring waist doing the one bit of detail work with that long cord hanging past where it’s tied.
Fabric drapes soft, doesn’t hold any kind of shape on its own, just falls straight down from that dropped seat all the way to the hem.
How Low It Actually Drops
This takes the low-seat thing further than some of the other drop-crotch pieces in the lineup, no pockets or panels breaking it up, just a clean stretch of fabric pooling low before the legs kick in. Hem’s even on both sides, nothing angled or notched at the center front like a few of the other shorts styles have going on.
Fit Notes
Elastic waistband, wide enough that it sits fine without needing the drawstring pulled tight. Legs stay loose the whole way, no taper anywhere, and somehow still end up sitting well above the knee even with all that fabric hanging in the seat.
What It Feels Like
Looks like a lightweight wool blend or maybe a soft cotton, drapes rather than holds structure, matte black with basically no texture or shine to speak of. Because there’s nothing else going on, no pockets, no extra seams, the silhouette reads clean, almost stark.
Wearing These
A loose Rick Owens Hoodie helps balance out all that volume sitting in the seat, or go the other way and keep it minimal with just a plain tee so the drop crotch does all the talking on its own. Rick Owens Ramones actually work fine underneath these given how short they end up running despite the dramatic drop up top.
Care
- Hand wash cold, or gentle machine cycle if you’re careful
- Lay flat to dry, don’t hang
- Skip the bleach
- Low iron only if it needs it
- Fold to store instead of hanging, keeps the shape better long term
